PLAYAWAYS ***
Playaways
are "ready-to-go" audio players containing
an entire audiobook in
a self-contained player smaller than a deck of
cards and weighing two ounces. No Cassettes. No
CDs. No Downloads. Just Play.
Wireless
Technology at the Librarybrary
The
Sanibel Public Library boasts a wireless network.
Patrons can bring their personal laptops/notebooks
and access the Internet through their wireless
cards. Access is available throughout the entire
building. In addition, a second high-speed Bonded
T1 line (transmitting data at 3.0M bits of data
per second) has been installed and is dedicated
to both wireless communications and patron Internet
stations.
Announcing
- AirPAC
AirPAC,
an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) designed
for wireless devices, allows library patrons to
search Sanibel’s catalog from personal hand-held
devices such as Internet-enabled mobile phones
and PDAs. AirPAC includes full search capabilities,
item information display, patron record display,
renewals and request capabilities.

Now
available - all three (3) Island
newspapers are available digitally at the Library.
Articles and pictures are accessible as far back
as the 1960's. See the Reference Desk staff for
access.
