| Internet Rules and Access
Sanibel Public Library, Inc. Public Internet Usage Agreement: (1)The Sanibel Public Library provides public access to the Internet in keeping with its mission to provide a variety of materials as well as access to information not in the library collection. (2)Persons wishing to use library computers must register at the Signup Desk and provide either a valid Sanibel Library card, current driver’s license, school ID, passport or similar official identification containing owner's photograph. Patrons are limited to one (1) computer per valid ID. (3)The library is not responsible for sites accessed on the Internet nor does the availability of the Internet imply endorsement of any particular Web site, the accuracy of any materials retrieved, or the confidentiality of transactions. (4)Information retrieved should be considered copyright protected. (5)The library does not provide e-mail accounts. (6)Retrieving and displaying obscene materials or images as described in Florida Statutes, Section 847.011 is unlawful and may result in loss of privileges. A second violation shall result in loss of privileges to use library computers. (7)The library may regulate use of computers based on patron demand and machine availability. (8)A fee will be charged for each page of material printed. (9)Documents created on designated computers may be saved only to a diskette purchased at the library and taken home when no further modifications are made. (10)Neither personal software nor equipment may be installed or used on library systems. This includes, but is not limited to diskettes, CDs, zip drives, flash drives, MP3 devices, laptops, notebooks, printers, etc. (11)Tampering with library computer equipment is strictly prohibited. (12)Downloading files, attachments, applications, programs, IM and Chat is prohibited. (13)Computers automatically shut down fifteen minutes before library closing. (14)There is a limit of two (2) people per computer. (15)Children fifth (5th) grade and up may use the Internet stations unattended. Children fifth (5th) grade and under MUST have a parent or guardian in the library. Children nine-years-old (9) and under MUST have a parent or guardian sit beside them at the computer station. (16)Cell phones are restricted to the downstairs lobby or the back porch and should be turned off at the workstations. |
